The circle of life is one of the most powerful and enduring symbols in all of history. It has been used in many different cultures throughout time to represent the cycle of seasons, the path of the Sun across the sky, and most importantly, it represents life itself. The circle of life is a symbol that is both universal and timeless; it transcends all cultures and speaks to us on a deeply personal level.
This artwork was inspired by the human eye. Subconciously when an individual see's another eye we are reminded of the fact that we are being observed. When we know that we are being watched we are more likely to be honest with ourselves. This artwork also plays on the symbolism of seeing and being seen. Throughout the ages the eye has been used as a symbol of life, for example, the eye of Horus in ancient Egypt, symbol representing protection, health, and restoration.
